Drawing is a Skill
People often see drawing artists as people that are just naturally good at drawing. The truth is that just like any other craft, drawing is a skill.
The more you do it, the better you’ll get. If you want to learn how to draw well, practice…practice…practice. I recommend sketching for at least 20-30 minutes daily if you want to get better at drawing.

I think that using references is a great way to improve your skills. Some people think that drawing from reference is cheating. I’m here to tell you that that’s not true.
Using references to study and learn different techniques is great. Just make sure you don’t copy someone else’s work and claim it as your own original creation.

Choosing Your Pencils
You can finish off your drawing with a darker pencil grade, such as a pencil on the B scale. Before you start drawing, make sure you’ve chosen the proper pencil. For beginners, I recommend sketching with H scale pencils. When finishing off your drawing, you can switch to a pencil on the B scale.
