In this tutorial I’ll be showing you how to disable right click on your self-hosted WordPress blog.
Before We Get Started
Before disabling right click on your blog, you’ll want to be sure this is a function you want to implement. You probably want to enable this function to protect your content from being copied by other readers.
I totally get this, however, keep in mind that disabling the right click function on your blog will not prevent this entirely.
If someone wants to copy your content, there are other ways to do it. Granted, they’ll definitely be inconvenienced.
Another thing to consider is how this will affect the user experience on your blog.
For example, if you have a food blog, disabling right click would keep your readers from copying the recipes on your site.
I know for myself, I prefer to copy and paste recipes I like into a text file for future reference.
Now that I’ve given you a couple of points to consider, let’s get started with the tutorial.
How to Disable Right Click in WordPress
1. In your wp-admin, go to Plugins > Add New and search for the “WP Content Copy Protection & No Right Click” plugin. Click on Install Now, and activate the plugin.
This plugin will prevent users from right clicking and saving your content and images. It also disables the following keys: CTRL+A, CTRL+C, CTRL+S, CTRL+V.
2. Next, in your wp-admin go to Settings > WP Content Copy Protection.
Here is where you can adjust the plugin settings. To completely disable the right click function on your blog, leave all settings as they are.
I hope you found this tutorial helpful. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below and I’ll see if I can help.
