To “glow up” is to have a physical and mental transformation for the better. The thing I love about glow-up culture is that it inspires people to work on bettering themselves in different ways.

Whether it’s eating healthy, taking care of your skin, or working on your mental well-being, we can all benefit from doing these positive habits.

Some people see glowing up as a physical change only. However, I believe that a true glow-up is so much more than that. It’s about taking care of your mind, body, and soul.

If you’re in need of a fast glow-up, you’ll learn hacks and secrets for becoming the best you that you can be.

1. Set Realistic Expectations

The first step of transforming your life is having a realistic outlook on what you want and how much work it will take to get there. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, you’ll want to set an attainable and healthy weight loss goal.

Take a little time to write down what your goals are and a realistic timeline for achieving those goals.

Along with writing down your goals, make sure you include your motivation behind wanting to achieve these things. Having a reason for why you’re doing this will keep you motivated on your glow-up journey.

2. Practice Self Love

We are often our worst critics. Doing things to improve your outer appearance means nothing if you don’t love yourself. The thing about self-love is that it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and commitment.

3. Drink More Water

I know you’ve heard this time and time again, but staying hydrated is so important for your health. If one of your goals is to improve your skin, hydration is a big factor in having glowing, clear skin.

If you’re not drinking enough water it will have a direct effect on the appearance of your skin. If you have a hard time drinking water, I recommend adding Twinings Cold Infuse Flavored Water Enhancers to your water. They make drinking water and staying hydrated so much easier.

4. Massage Your Scalp for Hair Growth

When was the last time you gave yourself a good scalp massage? The scalp is actually one of the most neglected parts of the body. We need to be giving our scalps some love if we want our hair to look its best.

A nice scalp massage will stimulate your follicles and increase blood flow to the scalp. According to research, this will help promote hair growth and thicken your hair.

You can massage your scalp and wash your hair at the same time in the shower with this scalp massager shampoo brush.

5. Wear Clear Mascara

Clear mascara is a must. It makes your eyelashes look fuller and longer without that clumpy look. If you love a natural look, you’re going to love clear mascara. Apply mascara to the lower lashes as well as the upper lashes for maximum effect.

6. Remove Unwanted Body Hair

If you have any unwanted hair on your body, such as hairy legs or armpits, remove it with your preferred hair removal method. Some people actually find that removing unwanted body hair boosts their mood because it makes their skin feel soft, as well as makes them feel more confident.

7. Clean Up Your Diet

I do find that adding fruits and veggies to your diet and removing some unhealthy foods, can help boost your mood, improve your hair and skin, and reduce bloating. One of my favorite ways to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet is by making smoothies.

8. Get Moving

Exercising for just 30 minutes a day can help you lose weight, maintain weight, or reach a specific fitness goal. Not only that, but exercise can also boost your mood.

9. Paint Your Nails

Every glow-up includes a fresh set of painted nails. Whether you get your nails done at the salon or at home, take some time out to get those hands looking good.

I recently discovered that you can find gorgeous press-on nails on Etsy. These will have you looking like your nails were done by a nail technician.

10. Shape Your Eyebrows

Keeping your eyebrows trimmed and shaped is a key factor to having gorgeous-looking brows and making your eyes stand out.

11. Whiten Your Teeth

For many people, their teeth are a big insecurity. I personally love teeth that aren’t “perfect” because they make you stand out as an individual. I’ve never gotten braces for my teeth and I don’t plan to.

However, I do like having white teeth. Thankfully, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have white teeth. Baking soda is a natural teeth whitener. Simply mix equal parts baking soda and water in a bowl and mix until you have a paste.

12. Take Care of Your Skin

Taking care of your skin is an important part of any glow-up. I recommend having a nightly skincare routine that cleanses and moisturizes your skin. Use this time as a “me time” routine.

I am one to always have a face mask on hand. I love these Dermal Korea Collagen Essence facial masks for moisturizing, hydrating and soothing my skin.

13. Change Your Haircut or Color

I know this won’t be for everyone, but if you’re ready for a bold new look, consider getting a haircut (or trim) and maybe even change your hair color. If you don’t want to completely change your hair color, a few highlights will give your locks some oomph.

14. Use a Satin Pillowcase

The softness of a satin pillowcase allows your hair and skin to glide against your pillow. This will prevent your hair and skin from drying out. It also helps prevent hair breakage.

A true glow-up is about taking care of yourself. It’s not just about how you look on the outside – it encompasses all aspects of your life and well-being. So let’s get glowing together!
