Since the moment I decided to implement blogging as a part of my growth strategy, I’ve been on a journey of finding blogging resources and techniques for increasing my traffic and income.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far as a blogger is that not everything works for everyone. What works perfectly for one person, may not work at all for you. I strongly believe in trying everything until you find what works for you.
For me, the hardest part about trying new techniques is the time it takes before you know whether or not your strategies have worked. If you feel the same way, just know that eventually luck and hard work will meet up, and everything will pay off.
It’s been a little over a year since I began blogging seriously, and in that time I’ve been able to more than double my traffic as well as my income. These results have been achieved with a combination of reading books and blog posts, taking online courses, testing out new tools, and actually implementing the things I’ve learned.
In this post I’ll be sharing with you the techniques, tools, and blogging resources that have helped me the most in growing my business and blog.
Firstly, I recommend starting a self-hosted WordPress blog if you’re ready to get serious about growing your blog. This is because with WordPress you have control over every aspect of your blog (from your design, to your blog’s features, your options are endless). If you don’t have a WordPress blog, I recommend following my step-by-step tutorial for starting your blog.
I also have a free 7 day email course to help you create and grow your blog. I’ve gotten so many compliments from students who have taken this free course. I know this course will be helpful for you too!
This post includes affiliate links to products I recommend. You can read my full disclosure here.
Here are a few blogs/bloggers that post great content, as well as motivate and inspire me to grow my business and blog.

Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing (This is my interview with course creator, Michelle Schroeder-Gardner)
If you want to increase your affiliate income, learn how my friend Michelle went from $0 in affiliate income to over $50,000 per month with her course Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. In this course, Michelle teaches you everything you need to know about making affiliate income. I purchased this course, and have successfully implemented her tips and techniques to increase my affiliate income.
If you want to grow your blog with Pinterest, and you’re having trouble making it all work on your own, I highly recommend taking the Pinfinite Growth course by Melyssa Griffin. In this course Melyssa shares her step-by-step approach for growing her business with Pinterest. I took this course and implemented Melyssa’s advice for my own Pinterest account. I saw results within 24 hours of implementing her techniques. I was definitely impressed by that.
I decided to invest in this course after reading the book Get Rich Lucky Bitch. I was hesitant to join due to the price, but more than made my money back within a week. I strongly believe in the power of your mindset. If you do too, I highly recommend this course.
Techniques for Increasing My Traffic
I Use Pinterest
In my post How I Drastically Increase My Traffic With Pinterest, I share the exact steps I’ve taken to increase my traffic with Pinterest. I update this post whenever I find a new technique that works for me.
I Work on SEO
I’ve been working hard at making sure I’m getting traffic from multiple sources. I don’t want all of my traffic coming from any one source (like Pinterest, for example). Remember, you never want to put all of your eggs in one basket.
Because I’ve that, I’m constantly working to make sure my content is search engine optimized.
In my post The Beginners Guide to SEO: How to Craft the Perfect SEO Blog Post, I go over everything I do to optimize my blog posts.
I Participate in Facebook Groups
Being active in Facebook groups has been a great way for me to connect with other bloggers and get more eyes on my content.
I don’t use Facebook groups to directly promote my content, however, by connecting with other bloggers, you’ll find that naturally, you’ll start getting more page views from Facebook.
Be sure to check out my post 73 Facebook Groups for Bloggers and Business Owners to find groups to join.
My Favorite Social Media Tools
Allows you to schedule your pins on Pinterest. Tailwind saves me so much time when it comes to pinning on Pinterest.
I love using Board Boosters looping feature. I use Tailwind for scheduling, and BoardBooster for looping my pins.
For my Facebook posts, I schedule them directly through Facebook because I’ve heard that you get less engagement when using third-party schedulers. I’m not very active on the other social media platforms, so there’s really no need for me to use social media schedulers for anything other than Pinterest.
I hope these resources will help you just as much if not more than they’ve helped me. Remember, when trying to grow your blog, throw everything at it until you find what sticks. With hard work, and patience, you will start to see results.
