Often, I see bloggers who think that if they have great content, the traffic will come. They launch their blog, and in the weeks following, they’re eager to see the results from their efforts.

The biggest problem that new bloggers have is that no one knows who they are and they have no authority in their niche.
In today’s competitive online landscape, it’s essential that build a connection with your audience and show them that you are someone that they can trust to provide high-quality content, products or services.
Here are seven things you can do to increase your online presence and build trust through social media.
- Connect with and help bloggers in niche-targeted Facebook groups.
- Comment on blog posts, then share them on social media.
- Start conversations on social media. I love using Twitter for this.
- Share your content on social media following the 80/20 rule.
- Work to gain targeted followers on your social media profiles.
- Consider paying for advertising to increase your reach.
- Share inspiring image quotes or funny videos.
#2. Take a Look at Your Current Efforts
Before you can improve your social media promotion efforts, it’s important that you know where you currently stand. Knowing where you’re at currently will give you a better idea of what you need to do to improve your social media tactics. When evaluating your social media profiles, ask yourself the following:
- Do your bios include information relevant to what you do?
- Are you using your time on social media wisely?
- Which social media networks are bringing your blog the most traffic? Ditch the ones that aren’t helping you.
Along with these three questions, it’s also important that you know your target audience.
I know you’ve probably heard this a million times, but let’s make it a million and one. If you don’t know who your target audience is, you’re essentially shooting in the dark with your social media efforts.
One of the most important things you can do here is to find out who our ideal reader is. Here are some questions to ask when determining your ideal reader:
- How old are they?
- Where do they live?
- What industry do they work in?
- How much money do they make?
- Where do they spend their time online?
- What problems do they face and how can you address those problems?
All of this information is important to consider when marketing on social media.
#3. Make Sure You’re Creating Rich Content
Having a successful social media marketing plan is all about posting content that your audience actually finds interesting.
One of the best ways to do this is by posting different types of content to see which methods receive the most engagement from your audience.
In today’s market, it’s becoming crucial that you create rich content. Rich content is defined by content that integrates different media formats, such as text, video, and images.
Along with creating text-based content, consider starting a podcast, creating YouTube videos, or going live on Instagram. Rich content is a great way to keep your audience interested.

- How often will post content to your social media accounts?
I recommend creating a social media content calendar to further help you along with your marking plan. By creating a social media content calendar, you can plan out dates and times to post specific content, along with titles and text already mapped out for you. Creating a content calendar is a great way to stay focused and organized.
#6. Learn and Implement
As a social media marketer, you’ll find that you will never stop learning, implementing and making adjustments to your marketing plan. As long as you stay consistent and keep working towards improving your social media strategy, you will continue to grow your blog and increase your overall online presence.
