The Chestnut scarf is a cozy, beginner-friendly project made with bulky weight yarn, so it works up quickly while creating a thick, warm fabric.

Designed with simple construction, the length and width can be easily adjusted to suit your personal preference. Soft, cozy, and practical for everyday wear, this scarf is the kind of winter accessory you’ll reach for again and again.
Materials:
- 400yds #5 bulky weight yarn. I used Brava Bulky Yarn.
- US size K 6.5 mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers (optional)
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Size (approximate): 6.25” x 68”
Gauge (4in x 4in): Approximately 10 sts and 10 rows
Size Adjustment: The pattern has a chain multiple of 2 plus 1 stitch. That means if you were to chain 12, for example, you would then add 1 stitch to that for a total of 13. To adjust the size of your scarf, start with a longer or shorter chain until it’s the width you want, then follow the pattern as written.
Pattern Notes:
- The chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
- If you have trouble identifying the first or last stitch of the row, use stitch markers to help you keep track.
Abbreviations (US):
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
sc blo – single crochet back loop only
sc flo – single crochet front loop only
