The best part? It looks like it took serious skill, but it’s actually very easy once you get a hang of the pattern. The stitch pattern is simple and repetitive, the kind you can settle into while watching your favorite show, and the chevron effect builds itself naturally as you go.

Soft, cozy, and made to last, this blanket makes a wonderful gift for a baby shower, a new grandbaby, or anyone welcoming a little one into the world.

Sizes (approximate): 36” x 36” (Baby Blanket Size) and 36” x 48” (Lapghan Size)

Follow the key throughout the pattern based on the size blanket you are crocheting: (Baby Blanket, Lapghan)

Size Adjustment: To adjust the size of your blanket, start with a longer or shorter chain. The pattern has a chain multiple of 18 plus 1 stitch. If you want to adjust the size of your blanket, chain in multiples of 18 and add 1 stitch to that. For example, if you were to chain 36, you would then add 1 stitch for a total of 37.

Gauge (4in x 4in): Approximately 6 dc clusters and 5.5 rows

Pattern Notes:

  • The chain 3 counts as a stitch.
  • A “dc cluster” is a group of 3 dc stitches.
  • [PEAK] is the pointed or raised part of the blanket and [VALLEY] is the dipped or indented section of the blanket.
  • ( ) – parenthesis: stitches are all worked in one stitch or space.
  • I highly recommend making a practice swatch to get the hang of the pattern before starting your blanket. For your swatch, ch 37 and follow the pattern as written.
  • If you have trouble identifying the first or last stitch of the row, use stitch markers to help you keep track.

Abbreviations (US):

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sk – skip
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
