If you often cook with a cast iron skillet, you know how tricky it can be to grab that hot handle when cooking. I’ve been wanting to make a solution for this for a while, and I’m happy to share my Cast Iron Skillet Handle Cover with you. These handle covers are quick and easy to make; you can finish one in about 20 minutes.

Before getting started with your handle covers, make sure you use 100% cotton yarn. Cotton can withstand heat, while acrylic yarn will melt when it gets too hot. Also, these covers are for stove-top use only. Do not use them in the oven or to remove your skillet from the oven.
Materials:
- Medium weight 100% cotton yarn. I use Everyday Cotton Yarn by Loops and Threads as well as Lily Sugar n’ Cream cotton yarn.
- US size G 4.0 mm crochet hook
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Size (approximate): 4.5” tall and 2” wide
