Traveler Fair Isle Crochet Sweater

I had been eyeing the Traveler Fair Isle Crochet Sweater pattern for more than a year before finally deciding to make one for myself. There’s no denying that this is a beautiful sweater, but I was intimidated to make one for myself because of the colorwork involved.

Thankfully, not only is the pattern extremely well written, but Briana provides a video tutorial that makes the process so easy! After finishing this sweater, I no longer avoid patterns because colorwork is involved, which is pretty nice.

Choosing My Yarn

When selecting the yarn for my Traveler Fair Isle Crochet Sweater, I decided to go with the recommended yarn for the pattern, which is the Wool of the Andes Superwash Worsted Weight Yarn from WeCrochet. The colors I chose are Oyster Heather, Brass Heather, Persimmon Heather, and Cadet.

I really enjoyed working with this yarn. The yarn did not split, it had good stitch definition, it was easy to unravel, and the colors look even better in person.

Changes I Made to the Pattern

The pattern is great as it is; however, I did make a few changes to the sweater. Firstly, to make the sweater more comfortable for myself; I added two additional rows to the yoke because I found the armpit area to be too tight.

Secondly, when looking at other people’s finished sweaters, I noticed that the colorwork at the bottom of the sleeve was a little bulky. I personally didn’t like how it looked, so for that reason, I decided not to add the colorwork to my sleeve.
