Materials:

Size (approximate) 7” x 66.5”

Gauge (4in x 4in): Approximately 12 sts and 9 rows

Size Adjustment: To adjust the size of your scarf simply add more chains (any number) until it’s the width you want and follow the pattern as written. Make sure you keep your yarn needs in mind when adjusting the size of your scarf.

Pattern Notes:

  • The chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
  • If you have trouble identifying the first or last stitch of the row, use stitch markers to help you keep track.

Abbreviations (US):

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet

Crochet Scarf for Absolute Beginners Pattern

To begin ch 24

Row 1: Place 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. (23 sts)

Row 2: Place 1 hdc in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1 and turn. (23 sts)

Repeat row 2 until your scarf reaches approximately 66.5” or 130 rows. After your final row, ch 1 and turn. Place 1 sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Fasten off and weave in ends.
