I’m sharing an easy crochet washcloth pattern that was a nice little project in my morning routine. I worked this pattern up one morning at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee while watching Hey Arnold!.

I decided to try the pattern using two different yarns to see how each one would turn out. The first washcloth was made with regular Lily Sugar’n Cream cotton yarn, and it came out soft and comfortable for everyday use.
The second washcloth was made with Lily Sugar’n Cream Scrub Off yarn. This was my first time using this yarn, so I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but I really enjoyed working with it and love how it turned out.
The cotton sections are super soft (softer than regular Sugar’n Cream yarn), and the scrubby sections are gentle without feeling harsh. Plus, there are some pretty color combinations to choose from, which made it fun to pick one out. This yarn works well for scrubby washcloths, and of course these cloths also make handy dishcloths.
Now that you have a little background on how these washcloths came together, let’s get started with the pattern so you can make one of your own.

Materials:
- 1 Lily Sugar ‘N Cream Cotton Yarn 120yds medium weight. For the scrubby cloth I used Sugar ‘N Cream Scrub Off yarn.
- US size H 5.0 mm crochet hook
- Measuring tape (optional)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Size (approximate): 10” x 10”
Size Adjustment: To adjust the size of your dishcloth, start with a longer or shorter chain. The pattern requires an odd number of chains.
Pattern Notes:
- The chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
Abbreviations (US):
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sk – skip
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet

Easy Washcloth Pattern
To begin ch 35
Row 1: Work 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. (34 sts)
Row 2: Work 1 sc in the 1st st, *sk next st, in next st (sc, dc) all in same st.* Repeat from * to * across the row until you reach the last st. Work 1 sc in the last st. Ch 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you have completed a total of 31 rows or until your washcloth reaches approximately 10 inches.
