Easy Pouch Crochet Pattern

To begin ch 2

Round 1: 6 sc into 2nd chain from the hook. (6 sts)

Remember to place your stitch marker in the 1st stitch of each round. This will help you keep track of when you’re starting a new round.

Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12 sts)

Round 3: *Inc, sc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. (18 sts)

Round 4: *Inc, sc in next 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (24 sts)

Round 5: *Inc, sc in next 3 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (30 sts)

Round 6: *Inc, sc in next 4 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (36 sts)

Round 7: *Inc, sc in next 5 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (42 sts)

Rounds 8-27: Work 1 sc in each st around. (42 sts) You can add more rounds for a taller pouch.

Round 28: Hdc in 1st st, *ch 1, skip next st, hdc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. The row will end with a ch 1 and you will skip the last st.

Round 29: Work 1 sc in each hdc st and ch 1 space around. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Make the Drawstring

Ch 81 and sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Insert the Drawstring

Going back to the eyelet spaces (ch 1 spaces) that were created in round 28, starting at the beginning of the round, you will use a crochet hook or your hands to weave the drawstring in and out of the eyelets.

In other words, you will insert the drawstring into the eyelet, under the hdc st, and out of the eyelet, and then over the hdc st, into the eyelet, under the hdc st and out of the eyelet, and repeat those steps.

Once you make your way to the end of the round, knot the two ends together using your desired method.
