Row 1: Ch 37 (39, 42) and work 1 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. 36 (38, 41) sts

Rows 2-4 (5, 6): Work 1 hdc in the 1st st, then hdc blo in each st across until you reach the last st, where you will work 1 hdc. Ch 1 and turn. You can add more rows here if you want a wider headband.

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing the ends together.

How to Create the Twist

1. Lay the piece flat horizontally.

2. Fold each end in half: Take the left end and fold it in half lengthwise, bringing its top edge down to meet its bottom edge. Do the same with the right end.

3. Interlock the ends: Slide the folded left and right ends so that they interlock. You will have four layers.

4. Sew through all layers: With the long tail end of the yarn and a tapestry needle, sew through all four layers going back and forth, from one side to the other.

5. Turn the ear warmer inside out: When you flip it inside out, the seam will be hidden and you’ll see a nice twist effect on the outside.
