I’m excited to share my Summer Days Water Bottle Holder Crochet Pattern. It’s the kind of make you’ll actually use nonstop once warm weather hits: toss it on, head out the door, and you’re set.

Summer days are better when you’ve got water within reach. A water bottle holder keeps your hands free, while you stay hydrated on walks, errands, festivals, park days, and more. Practical and cute is my favorite combo.

Materials:
- 1-2 Lily Sugar ‘N Cream 120yds cotton yarn. I used 1 skein for my water bottle holder, but you may need 2 skeins depending on how long you want your strap.
- US size H 5.0 mm crochet hook
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Size (approximate): 9.5” tall, 3” diameter, 42” strap length. Fits a standard 24 oz water bottle.
Pattern Notes:
- For part of the pattern, we’ll be working in continuous rounds. Do not join at the end of your rounds until mentioned specifically.
- The ch 3 counts as a stitch throughout the pattern.
- Place a stitch marker in the 1st stitch of each round. This will help you keep track of when you’re starting a new round.
- If you don’t like the look of the traditional ch 3, it can be replaced with a standing double crochet, which better mimics the appearance of a standard double crochet. When the pattern states to “ch 4”, you will work a standing double crochet, then ch 1, and continue the pattern as written.
- To adjust the size of your bottle holder, work additional or fewer rounds (increasing stitches accordingly) until the bottom of the holder matches the size of the bottom of your water bottle. This pattern requires an odd number of stitches, so make sure the final round has an odd number of stitches. You can add or remove a stitch if needed. Once you’re happy with the size of the bottom, continue to Round 6 and continue working the pattern as written.

inc – increase (work 2 stitches in the same stitch)
sc – single crochet
sc blo – single crochet back loop only
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch

Summer Days Water Bottle Holder Pattern
Bottom of bottle holder
To begin Ch 2
Round 1: Work 7 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. (7 sts)
Round 2: Inc in each st around. (14 sts)
Round 3: *Inc, sc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. (21 sts)
Round 4: *Inc, sc in next 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (28 sts)
Round 5: *Inc, sc in next 3 sts.* Repeat from * to * around. (35 sts)
Round 6: Sc blo in each st around. Sl st to 1st st of next round. (35 sts)
Body of bottle holder
Round 7: Ch 3 (counts as dc now and throughout pattern), dc in next st and in each st around. Sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (35 sts)
Round 8: Ch 3, dc in next st and in each st around. Sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (35 sts)
Round 9: Ch 4, sk next st, dc in next st, *ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to top of ch 4 to join. (35 sts)
Round 10: Ch 3, dc in next ch 1 space, then work 1 dc in each st and ch 1 space around. Sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (35 sts)
Round 11: Ch 3, dc in next st and in each st around. Sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (35 sts)
Repeat rounds 9-11 until you have completed a total of 23 rounds. You can do more or less rounds to match the height of your water bottle.
Do not fasten off yarn.
Bottle holder strap
Row 1: With yarn still attached, ch 1 (does not count as st) sc in same st, work 1 sc in next 3 sts. Ch 1 and turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: Work 1 sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn. (4 sts)
Repeat row 2 until your bottle holder strap is your desired length. My strap is approximately 42” and 157 rows.
Attach the strap
Fasten off the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing, bring the strap over to the opposite side of the bottle holder and use a tapestry needle to whip stitch the strap to the bottle holder. Whip stitch back and forth a couple of times to make sure your strap is extra secure.
