The simple two-color design adds visual interest without complicated techniques, so even if you’re brand new to crochet, you can confidently create a scarf you’ll actually be excited to wear.
Materials:
- 400 total yds of medium weight yarn in two colors. I used Lion Brand Heartland yarn in the colors Mammoth Cave (Color A) and Wolf Trap (Color B).
- US size J 6.0 mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers (optional)
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Size (approximate): 6.25” x 68”
Gauge (4in x 4in): Approximately 16 sts and 15 rows
Size Adjustment: To adjust the size of your scarf simply add more chains (any number) until it’s the width you want and follow the pattern as written.
Pattern Notes:
- The chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
- If you have trouble identifying the first or last stitch of the row, use stitch markers to help you keep track.
Abbreviations (US):
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
sc blo – single crochet back loop only

Landis Scarf Crochet Pattern
To begin, using Color A ch 25
Row 1: Place 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. (24 sts)
Row 2: Place 1 sc blo in each st across. Ch 1 and turn. (24 sts)
Repeat Row 2 until your scarf is approximately 34 inches long. Fasten off Color A.
Attach Color B, ch 1 and Repeat Row 2 until the Color B portion of your scarf is approximately 34 inches long. Fasten off Color B and weave in ends.
