These Modern Woven Coasters are simple square crochet coasters with a beautiful woven texture and clean, modern look.

I’ve always loved crochet projects that are simple to make and have plenty of texture. These coasters are made using the moss stitch, which is perfect for providing texture, while being really simple to work.
Choosing Your Yarn
For this pattern, I used Bernat Maker yarn, a soft and squishy tubular yarn that I really enjoy using for home projects. It gives the coasters a nice thickness and helps the woven texture stand out beautifully.

Materials:
- Small amount of #5 bulky weight yarn. I used Bernat Maker Yarn.
- US size K 6.5 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Size (approximate): 4.5” x 4.5”
Size Adjustment: To adjust the size of your coaster, start with a longer or shorter chain. The pattern requires an even number of chains.
Pattern Notes:
- The ch 1 turning chain will be worked into at the end of the rows.
Abbreviations (US):
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet

Modern Woven Square Coaster Pattern
To begin ch 18
Row 1: Work 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across the row. Ch 1 and turn. (17 sts)
Row 2: Work 1 sc in the 1st st, *ch 1, skip next st, sc in next st.* Repeat from * to * across the row. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 3: Skip the first sc st, *work 1 sc in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, skip next sc st.* Repeat from * to * across the row until you have 1 st remaining, then ch 1 and work 1 sc in the ch 1 turning chain. Ch 1 and turn.
Repeat Row 3 until you have completed a total of 16 rows. Fasten off and weave in ends.
