As a Washingtonian, this cozy blanket is inspired by my love for the Pacific Northwest, where evergreen trees, misty mornings, and crisp air create a sense of calm and peace. Whether you’re nestled in a cabin or curled up on the couch, I hope this pattern brings you the same sense of peace the PNW brings me.
Evergreen Blanket Sizing Notes
The Evergreen blanket pattern includes two sizes: 40” x 50” (Larger Lapghan Size) and 48” x 60” (Throw Size). Below I’ve included a blanket sizing guide to assist you in finding the right size for your blanket.
Blanket Sizing Guide
- Baby Blanket: 36 x 36 inches
- Toddler Blanket: 40 x 60 inches
- Lapghan: 36 x 48 inches
- Throw Blanket: 48 x 60 inches
- Twin Bed: 65 x 90 inches
- Double Bed: 84 x 90 inches

Materials:
- Lion Brand Wool Ease 197yds #4 worsted weight yarn in the color Forest Green Heather. Larger Lapghan Size: 11 skeins and Throw Size: 16 skeins
- US size J 6.0 mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers (optional)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Sizes (approximate): 40” x 50” (Larger Lapghan Size) and 48” x 60” (Throw Size)
Follow the key throughout the pattern based on the size blanket you are crocheting: (Larger Lapghan, Throw)
Gauge (4in x 4in): Approximately 13 sts and 12 rows
Size Adjustment: To adjust the width of your blanket, start with a longer or shorter chain, keeping an even number of chains. Follow the crochet pattern until your blanket is the size you want. Make sure you keep your yarn needs in mind when adjusting the size of your blanket.
Pattern Notes:
- The chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
- If you have trouble identifying the first or last stitch of the row, use stitch markers to help you keep track.
- Due to the nature of the stitches used in this blanket, you may experience curling of the corners. Don’t worry, as your blanket gets longer and heavier, it will curl less. Once I added the border, I didn’t have any curling with my blanket. If your finished blanket has some slight curling of the corners, you can steam it with a steam iron (do not place the iron directly on the blanket) or use a clothing steamer to help it lay flat.

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
tr – triple crochet (also known as treble crochet): Yarn over the hook twice. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull the stitch through, leaving four loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops. Yarn over and pull through two loops. Yarn over and pull through two loops.

Evergreen Crochet Blanket Pattern
To begin ch (130, 156)
Row 1: Place 1 sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. (129, 155 sts)
Rows 2-3: Place 1 sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 4: Place 1 sc in the 1st st, *tr in the next st, sc in next st*. Repeat from * to * across the row. You will end with 1 sc in the last st. Ch 1 and turn.
Rows 5-7: Place 1 sc in the 1st st and in each st across. Ch 1 and turn.
Repeat rows 4-7 until your blanket reaches (50”, 60”) or your desired length. Don’t fasten off just yet. We will now add a border.
Add the Border
Round 1: With your yarn still attached, ch 1 and sc around the blanket. Whenever you reach a corner, place 3 sts in the corner. When you arrive back at the corner where you started, place 3 sts in that corner.
Note: It can be difficult to see your stitches when crocheting along the sides. Just do your best here. The stitch count is not important.
Round 2: Continue to sc around the entire blanket again, placing 3 stitches in each corner. When you reach the corner where you started, place 3 sts in the starting corner, sl st to the next st, fasten off and weave in the ends.
