If you’re looking for a fun little project that works up fast, these round motif crochet coasters are a great pick. They’re perfect for using up leftover yarn, and the finished coaster looks great sitting under your favorite mug.

One of my favorite things about these coasters is how quickly they come together. Each one can be made in about 15 minutes. I also really enjoyed making these using a variety of colors!

Materials:

Size (approximate): 5”

Pattern Notes:

  • The ch 3 counts as a stitch throughout the pattern.
  • If needed, you can place a stitch marker in the top of the ch 3. This will help identify the ch 3 throughout the pattern.

Abbreviations (US):

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sk – skip
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch

Round Motif Coaster Crochet Pattern

To begin Ch 4 and sl st to 1st ch to join and form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc now and throughout pattern), work 11 dc into the ring. Sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (12 sts)

Round 2: Ch 3, work 1 dc in same st, then work 2 dc in each st around. Sl st to ch 3 to join. (24 sts)

Round 3: Ch 3, work 2 dc in next st, *work 1 dc in next st, work 2 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (36 sts)

Round 4: Ch 3, work 1 dc in same st, ch 1, sk next st, *work 2 dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st.* Repeat from * to * around until you reach the last st where you will ch 1, sk the final st and sl st to top of ch 3 to join. (54 sts)

Round 5: Ch 1, sc in next st, in next ch 1 space (dc, ch 1, dc) all in same space, *sc in next 2 sts, in next ch 1 space (dc, ch 1, dc) all in same space.* Repeat from * to * around. Sl st to ch 1 to join. Fasten off and weave in ends.
