I have a new blanket pattern to share with you today, and I had such a fun time making this one! This Ombré Chevron Crochet Blanket has the classic zigzag design I’ve always loved, and it’s surprisingly easy to crochet.

I used Bernat Blanket Ombré yarn for this blanket, and it ended up being such a good choice. It’s soft and cozy, of course, but I really loved watching the colors slowly change as I worked.
You get that beautiful ombré look without having to stop and change the yarn colors yourself, and seeing each new shade appear made me want to keep going just a little longer.
Chevron patterns can look a little intimidating at first, but don’t let all those peaks and valleys fool you. This one is beginner friendly, and after a few rows, you’ll start to see the pattern come together and find your rhythm. If you’ve been wanting to try a chevron blanket, I think this is a really good one to start with.
Ombré Chevron Blanket Sizing Notes
The Ombré Chevron Blanket pattern includes three sizes: 36” x 48” (Lapghan Size), 48” x 60” (Throw Size), and 84” x 90” (Double Bed Size). Below I’ve included a blanket sizing guide to assist you in finding the right size for your blanket.
Blanket Sizing Guide
- Baby Blanket: 36 x 36 inches
- Toddler Blanket: 40 x 60 inches
- Lapghan: 36 x 48 inches
- Throw Blanket: 48 x 60 inches
- Twin Bed: 65 x 90 inches
- Double Bed: 84 x 90 inches

Materials:
- Bernat Blanket Ombré 220yds #6 super bulky weight yarn. I used the color Eggplant. Lapghan Size: 4 skeins, Throw Size: 6 skeins, and Double Bed Size: 15 skeins.
- US size M/N 9.0 mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers (optional)
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Tapestry needle
Sizes (approximate): 36” x 48” (Lapghan Size), 48” x 60” (Throw Size), and 84” x 90” (Double Bed Size)
Follow the key throughout the pattern based on the size blanket you are crocheting: (Lapghan, Throw, Double Bed)
Size Adjustment: To adjust the size of your blanket, start with a longer or shorter chain. The pattern has a chain multiple of 13 plus 2 stitches. If you want to adjust the size of your blanket, chain in multiples of 13 and add 2 stitches to that. For example, if you were to chain 39, you would then add 2 stitches for a total of 41.
Gauge (4in x 4in): Approximately 11 sts and 6 rows
Pattern Notes:
- The chain 1 does not count as a stitch.
- I highly recommend making a practice swatch to get the hang of the pattern before starting your blanket. For your swatch, ch 41 and follow the pattern as written.
- If you have trouble identifying the first or last stitch of the row, use stitch markers to help you keep track. *I recommend placing a stitch marker in the last stitch because it can be easy to miss with the chevron design.

Ombré Chevron Blanket Pattern
To begin ch (106, 132, 236)
Row 1: Work 2 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. *Sc in each of the next 5 ch, skip 2 ch, sc in each of the next 5 ch, work 3 sc in next ch (all in same ch).* Repeat from * to * until 13 sts remain, then sc in each of the next 5 ch, skip 2 ch, sc in each of the next 5 ch, work 2 sc in the last ch. Ch 1 and turn.
** For the remainder of the blanket all stitches are worked in the back loop only.**
Row 2: Work 2 sc in 1st st. *Sc in each of the next 5 sts, skip 2 sts, sc in each of the next 5 sts, work 3 sc in next st (all in same st).* Repeat from * to * until 13 sts remain, then sc in each of the next 5 sts, skip 2 sts, sc in each of the next 5 sts, work 2 sc in the last st. Ch 1 and turn.
Repeat row 2 until your blanket reaches 48” for a lapghan, 60” for a throw blanket, and 90” for a double bed. Or until the blanket reaches your desired length. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
